Audio Engineering

Since 2014, I have been active as a freelance audio engineer in recording, live sound, post-production, and audio restoration contexts. Currently, I also work as the Technical Director and in-house audio engineer for Ensemble Dal Niente and as the lead Front of House engineer at the High Desert Soundings Festival. Previously, I was employed as a recording and live sound engineer at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music's Audio Services department and as an Assistant Audio Engineer at the Marlboro Music Festival.

My years of musical training as a composer, performer, and music technologist, combined with my technical audio engineering knowledge, make me well-suited for working on projects involving complex contemporary scores, non-traditional instrumentations, live electronics, multi-channel speaker systems, and other idiosyncratic performance configurations found in new music, experimental music, improvised music, and electroacoustic music.

  • ◦ I will bring my high-end recording equipment to your rehearsal, concert, or any other location to record your event. This service can also be conducted as a traditional recording session at any location.
  • ◦ My location recording rig can also function as a live sound rig, allowing me to handle both functions simultaneously.

  • ◦ I can operate Max/MSP, Pure Data, and SuperCollider patches, as well as manage any DAW sessions or playback that need to be synchronized with a score.

  • ◦ I can help restore fidelity to audio that is damaged or compromised in any way: de-clipping, de-humming, de-noising, de-clicking, etc.

  • ◦ I can create custom interactive electroacoustic music performance software for your composition or project. Additionally, I can update and repair patches and software that are outdated or no longer functioning. I typically use SuperCollider, but I am also well-versed in Max/MSP and Pure Data.
